    Event Description:
The City Theater in Biddeford is excited to present Company, a Tony Award winning musical comedy by renowned composer, Stephen Sondheim. Company has been called one of Sondheim's most beautiful scores and a truly unique look at love and relationships.

Set in New York in the 1970’s, the story opens on Robert's 35th birthday. His friends, five married couples, “those good crazy people, his married friends.” gather to celebrate and offer advice on love and marriage. During a hilarious array of interactions, Robert examines the question of why he is still not married.  The show’s many Sondheim standards include “Company,” “Side by Side by Side,” “The Ladies Who Lunch,” “Another Hundred People,” “Barcelona” and “Being Alive.”

Opening on Broadway in April 1970, Company earned a record-setting 14 Tony Nominations, winning six awards, including Best Musical, Best Book for a Musical, and Best Score. When it returned to the Broadway stage in 2007, Company received the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. This groundbreaking modern musical is a wildly funny look at what makes us feel alive.

Artistic Director, Linda Sturdivant, has assembled a truly gifted cast of local talent, including: Caleb Lacy of Gorham as Robert; Elizabeth Lester (Saco) as Marta, Joanne Clark (Windham) as April, and Adelyn Bell (New Gloucester) as Kathy, Robert's three girlfriends; Becky Rinaldi (Yarmouth) playing Sarah; Brian McAloon (Old Orchard Beach) in the role of Harry, Sarah's husband; Alyssa Rojecki (Saco) and Seth Crockett (Portland) as Susan and Peter; new comer to the City Theater stage, Gusta Johnson (Old Orchard Beach) playing, Jenny, the wife of David (played by Tim Steiner of Biddeford); Mia Foley Perron (Westbrook) in the role of Amy; Schuyler White (Kennebunk) as Paul, Amy's fiance; and Jeannine Cannizzo (Gorham) and Peter Salsbury (Scarborough) in the roles of the saucy older couple, Joanne and Larry. Rounding out the cast is the Vocal Minority ensemble played by: Hannah Brown (Biddeford); Briana Chu (Alfred); Anna Devoe (Gorham); Grace Chlosta (Kennebunk); and Andrew Lamb (Springvale).
