Globally we continue to be focused on addressing our current health crisis as a top priority, but longer-term, many experts still consider climate change to be the biggest challenge facing all of us in the coming years.
Peter Degas of Citizen's Climate Lobby has graciously volunteered to share his expertise on this topic to educate Chamber members on the causes and many challenges associated with climate change, along with an innovative potential way to help address the challenge that many economists and business leaders have embraced in recent years.
Organizational Background: Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a non-profit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change. Operating since 2007, CCL volunteers work to build support for effective, equitable climate policy, specifically a revenue-neutral carbon fee and dividend policy (think "Carbon Cash-Back" which is supported by over 3500 economists) at the national level. CCL has 180,000 volunteers and is supported by notable climate scientists James Hansen, Katharine Hayhoe, and Daniel Kammen. CCL's advisory board also includes former Secretary of State George P. Shultz, former US Representative Bob Inglis, actor Don Cheadle, and RESULTS founder Sam Daley-Harris.
