The Chamber believes human capital is the key component to a vibrant community. And when that capital is a skilled workforce, it paves the road to economic prosperity.
The Chamber is actively involved in identifying opportunities and partnerships to help build and retain the area’s workforce. We support and facilitate collaboration between business and our local education institutions. We are creating programs to help us better understand employment needs so that academic strategies can be developed to fill those needs.
The Chamber is also supporting efforts to address the recruitment of seasonal workers to fill the hundreds of jobs available within the tourism industry. These jobs are virtual training grounds for future full-time employment in the region.
The Biddeford+Saco Region is the home of several outstanding educational centers. Our local schools pride themselves on their high standards and embrace diversity by hosting hundreds of foreign students. The University of New England, York County Community College, University of Maine at Augusta's Saco Center, Husson University and the University of Southern Maine all are easily accessed within our region.
